According to East Longmeadow Police, an officer was patrolling the area of Maple Street when he came across two backpacks in the road. Police decided to search the area, where they found that several cars had been broken into. As of Saturday afternoon, the thieves had broken into at least twelve cars, stealing items ranging from bags to power cords to small electronics.
Police believe the cars that was robbed was left unlocked overnight, and that the thieves had simply checked every car in the area until they found ones that had been left open.
There were no eye witnesses, but some residents reported hearing noises outside during the early morning hours.
East Longmeadow police do not have any suspects at this time.
They are urging residents to call police whenever they hear a strange noise at night, and to lock their cars at all times.
