ATLANTA, Ga. (WGGB) — Several reports indicate that Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork suffered a torn Achilles during Sunday’s game against the Falcons and may miss the rest of the season.

It was in the first quarter of the game when Wilfork appeared to twist his right foot and ankle while making a play. He did hobble off the field on his own power, but a short time later was seen being driven off the field on the back of cart.

Wilfork was listed as questionable for a return to the game.

Shalise Manza Young of The Boston Globe first reported the severity of the injury Monday morning.

Sources tell ESPN’s Mike Reiss and NFL Media’s Albert Breer that Wilfork will likely miss the rest of the season.

There is no official word from the Patriots yet on Wilfork’s condition or status.

The Patriots would go on to defeat the Falcons 30-23, to move to 4-0 on the season.
