Police: Fast Food Window Escape Foils Kidnapping

NORWICH, Conn. (AP) — State Police say an East Haddam woman escaped from an accused kidnapper by climbing through a fast food drive-through window.

The Bulletin reports that police say the unidentified woman reported being kidnapped from her home on Friday by an acquaintance, Davendra Persaud, of Lynbrook, N.Y.

Police say Persaud drove to a nearby Burger King and while waiting in the drive-through line, the woman left his vehicle and ran to another vehicle. She climbed into the drive-through window to escape.

Police also say the 30-year-old Persaud chased the other vehicle and brandished a handgun at two occupants.

Persaud is charged with kidnapping and other charges and is held on a $500,000 bond.

It was not known Tuesday morning if he’s represented by a lawyer.
