Bicyclist Struck in Ludlow Taken to the Hospital

LUDLOW, Mass. (WGGB) — A bicyclist traveling in the area of Windsor and East Streets in Ludlow tonight was struck by a motor vehicle.

That’s according to Ludlow Police Sgt. Valadas who told us they received the call at 7:06 p.m.

“Male riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle,” explains Valadas.  He adds a grey, 2006 Nissan Maxima was involved and that the bicyclist was turning when he got struck.

Police report darkness is assumed to be a contributing factor in this case.

The Wilbraham Fire Department provided mutual aid and transported the person to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.   No word yet though on his condition, age or identity.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ludlow Police Department.

Stay with ABC40 for the latest.

I don’t know the particulars in this case, but I’ve seen adult bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the street (facing traffic) and on the sidewalks (not legal), not using signals and not obeying the traffic laws and having pour or no lighting at night along with dark clothing.
