NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball calls Alex Rodriguez’s lawsuit against the sport a “clear violation” of the confidentiality provisions of the league’s drug program.

The New York Yankees third baseman sued MLB and baseball Commissioner Bud Selig on Thursday in state court in Manhattan, accusing them of a “witch hunt” to smear his reputation and cost him tens of millions of dollars.

In a statement Friday, MLB denied the allegations and called the lawsuit a “desperate attempt” to go around confidentiality rules of the league’s drug agreement with the players’ union.

In a statement of his own, Rodriguez said his legal team is doing what is necessary to vindicate him.

The union filed a grievance appealing Rodriguez’s 211-game suspension for violating baseball’s drug agreement and labor contract.

Who cares about arod and the Yankees!!

    • alpinequeen

If you don’t care, then don’t bother to read the article and make a comment except for the expressed purpose of showing your dislike for the Yankees.

Like he doesn’t have enough money already. What a crybaby. You got caught, take your punishment like a man.

Must be a yankee fan huh alpine queen sht your mouth and coment about the story

    • alpinequeen

And you must be a Red Flops fan…

  • WMassMom75

Wait, alpinequeen DID comment about the story to begin with. It was you Fresh413 whose comment had nothing to do with the article. Yankees, Red Sox, doesn’t really matter what the team is, the article is about a pathetic individual who broke the rules, got caught and is now trying to take everyone down on his sinking ship.

I’d like to see the Cubs win the World Series sometime. They’re way over due.

  • fresh413

Your a looser jst like the Yankees!!

    • alpinequeen

At the end of the 2013 season, the Yankees have won 27 World Series Championships and lost 13. The Red Sox record is 7 and 4. The Yankees have won 40 American League pennants and the Red Sox have only won 12 American League pennants. The numbers speak for themselves unlike your mutterings.
