Gun Buyback Program a Success

gun buybackNORTHAMPTON, Mass (WGGB) — Organizers of the Valley Gun BuyBack this weekend say it was a success.

The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office says they collected a total of 301 guns.

That’s 160 in Greenfield and 141 in Northampton.  Police say they hope that the program will keep weapons out of homes.

This was the event’s first year and the DA’s office says the number of guns collected exceeded expectations.

People who turned in a gun received a $50 gift card and two gift cards for turning in an assault weapon.

Who paid for the giftcards? Taxpayers?

And how is it considered a success?

Just be happy they got that evil, bolt-action shotty off the streets. Think of the geese that have been saved!

  • Jake

Nothing more dangerous than a single shot .410 shotgun….we can all sleep sound tonight knowing that all of these “weapons of war” are “off of the streets”! I just cannot believe that people actually think that these programs are effective…and to think that people turn in such valuable, collectible guns for a lousy $50…….

    But it “feels good”, right?

  • Jake

I guess it might “feel good” to a left wing liberal who thinks they’re gonna save the world by banning guns and holding “peace marches”. Myself on the other hand, could not imagine giving up my “weapons”, especially not for $50 F’ing dollars….not for any amount of money, but certainly not for $50…..

It didn’t work ( obviously ) in Springfield. I really don’t see how it can affect a criminal. They sure as he’ll don’t turn their guns in, however, they do know that they are a lot safer with 300 guns out of residences that they can break into.

The disarming of the people has begun.
