WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base received a large donation Tuesday morning.
Officials from Westfield Gas and Electric presented the wing with a check for $19,857.
The money was donated to the wing because of their involvement in the utility company’s retrofit program. The 104th has already completed a review on proposed insulation and lighting retrofit projects, which has achieved savings of $19,857.
“The more energy that the base saves, the more the City of Westfield saves,” says Sean Fitzgerald, Energy Specialist and Customer Account Representative from Westfield Gas & Electric.
Col. James Keefe, Commander of the 104th Fighter Wing, adds that “The base will continue to upgrade its electrical utilities in an effort to reduce energy consumption by 30% by the year 2015.”
“The Westfield G&E is truly an exceptional partner and we look forward to their continued support for many more years to come,” Keefe says.
