BOSTON (AP) — Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino will have plenty of time to rest and recover after getting hit by a pitch twice in Game 4 of the AL division series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Victorino was hit on his right arm and another time in the ribs in Boston’s clinching 3-1 victory Tuesday. He was hit two other times in the series after leading the AL by taking 18 off his body in the regular season.

Now Victorino and the rest of the Red Sox will have three days off before they start the AL championship series on Saturday at Fenway Park. The extra days will allow the team to rest the injured and line up its pitching rotation.

The Red Sox will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics.
