Mass. Travel Agent Charged With Cheating Clients
BOSTON (AP) — A Boston travel agent has been charged with bilking her mostly elderly customers out of $16,000 by either failing to make travel plans they had paid for or canceling plans after collecting her client’s money.
Linda Do, who has an office in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on Thursday to multiple counts of larceny.
She was released on personal recognizance.
Prosecutors say she defrauded at least 14 people, nine of whom are older than 60. Many do not speak English.
Authorities say there may be more victims.
Prosecutors say the 57-year-old Do arranged travel plans for China, and took her clients’ money without following through.
Do’s court-appointed attorney says his client is broke and the business is bankrupt, and that’s why travel plans weren’t completed.
