Springfield Teen Arrested in String of Car Break-Ins

Warren GelinSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A Springfield man has been arrested for allegedly stealing items from several vehicles and leading police on a foot chase.

According to Sgt. John Delaney, a homeowner spotted 18-year old Warren Gelin taking items from a Honda Accord behind a home on Belmont Avenue.

When police arrived they spotted the teen scaling a fence.

A short time later, officers spotted Gelin walking down the street with a Luis Vuitton bag over his shoulder

A foot chase ensued and Gelin was eventually tackled by police on Lawndale Street.

Officers investigated the contents of the bag and found a Samsung Phone with a charger and ear buds, an I-Phone 5, Coach Sunglasses with a case, Gucci and Chanel Cologne.

It was determined that the items were stolen from four car breaks on various streets around the neighborhood.

Gelin was held overnight in police lock-up and will be arraigned on numerous charges Friday in Springfield District Court.
