Man Hit By Car, Driver Slams Into Tree

Police-Pedestrian killedAGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Two people are in the hospital this morning with serious injuries after an early-morning car accident.

Police say at 2:13 a.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was hit by a car on Meadow Street in Agawam.

Sgt. Anthony Grasso told ABC40 that the man was standing by his parked car on the side of the street when he was hit and thrown across the road.

The driver, a female in her twenties, then lost control of the car and slammed into a tree, according to Grasso.

The man and woman were both rushed to Baystate Medical Center. Their injuries are being described by police as “serious,” but information as to the extent of their injuries is not being released.

When asked what the cause was Grasso said alcohol and negligence may have been involved in the accident.
