LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WGGB) - Earlier this month students led the way at L.Y. Academy’s open house, using “The Leader in Me Model”. At this years open house teachers and administrators tried a new format. This time around students led parents and grandparents around their classrooms, describing different areas around the room showing work, and telling about learning activities. In addition students also showed their leadership notebooks, which contain students’ profiles, and academic goals.
Prior to visiting the classrooms, the school held an assembly and presented the first edition of the student run newspaper, The Shining Star. The open house concluded with a dinner sponsored and prepared by the L.Y.A PTO.
