(WGGB) — After 17 years with no tolling, tolls are back along the stretch of the Mass. Pike between Exits 1 and 6 in Western Massachusetts.
To help drivers navigate through the toll plazas a little easier and faster, MassDOT offers E-ZPass.
The electronic toll collection system includes a transponder that you place in your vehicle which deducts the toll from a credit card, debit card, or prepaid cash amount, so you don’t have to stop and rummage for some change.
Thursday, ABC40 / FOX 6 hosted a sign-up session, where people were able to come by, talk with members of the E-ZPass Street Team, and sign-up for a transponder.
In the three hours the event was held, 236 transponders were handed out to motorists, while many other people stopped by to simply ask questions or take an application.
Those who had an old non-revenue transponder were also able to stop by to swap out that device for a new transponder.
If you were not able to make it to Thursday’s event, you can still sign-up for E-ZPass.
The E-ZPass Street Team has two more local sign-up events scheduled – this Saturday at Big Y in Ludlow, and Wednesday, October 23 at Big Y in Wilbraham.
Both events will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
You can also sign-up for an E-ZPass online.
If you would prefer a paper application, you can also request an application by mailed to you by calling (877) 627-7745 or download the application online and mail it back in to MassDOT.
