Springfield Off-Duty Officer Reports Missing Gun in Hartford

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – An off-duty Springfield Police Officer reported his weapon went missing in Hartford on Wednesday.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney confirmed the officer’s gun was reported missing around 6:30 in the morning. It is not known whether the gun was stolen or misplaced.

Local detectives responded to the scene and have collaborated with Hartford Police on this investigation.

The officer in question has not been identified and is still employed with the Springfield Police Department. Delaney said no disciplinary action has been taken as the investigation is still in the preliminary stages.

The gun has not been found.

ABC 40 reached out to the Hartford Police department but there was no response.
