Hundreds Participate in Zombie Walk in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — The undead combed the Springfield Streets Saturday, as the free Zombie Walk was held.

The Zombies began at Stearns Square and finished at Court Square. There, they were met with live music, games, and other attractions.

The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau and Springfield Business Improvement District threw the event to attract visitors and boost the local economy.

“It’s great for the community and retailers,” said Don Courtemanche, the Executive Director of the Springfield Business Improvement District, “downtown businesses are offering steep discounts for anybody that came today. It gets people into seats and restaurants. Based on the success this year, I see this becoming an annual event going forward.”

More than 500 zombies turned out for Saturdays’ event.
