Ludlow Native Beats Shawn Jordan at UFC 166

ufcHOUSTON, Texas (WGGB) — A Western Mass native is making a name for himself in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Gabriel Gonzaga hails from Ludlow, and Saturday night he a gave pay-per-view audience an exciting and violent 1:33 during his fight with former LSU fullback Shawn Jordan during UFC 166.

Gonzaga knocked out Jordan within the first two minutes of round one, after a right-handed punch sent Jordan to the mat.

Gonzaga secured the pin for his second straight victory.

To him, it might have seemed like a long fight. Gonzaga defeated his last opponent in just 17 seconds during his victory at UFC 162.

Why does your reporter who apparently has never heard of Gabe Gonzaga before, repeatedly keep saying this man is “making a name for himself”? He has been a top 10 fighter in the UFC for YEARS. The man fought former world champions, as well as for the belt. This man is known all over the world, his record is outstanding, yet your reporter thinks he has something to prove. Not to mention reporting he was going to be fighting 5 rounds when only championship fights are 5 rounds, all others are 3 rounds. Are the rest of your stories this poorly done also? I am now beginning to wonder about that…

I was wondering the same thing. My friends and I have been watching hin fight for years, but this article makes it sound like he’s just starting out. Lousy reporting.
