SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) Earlier this month the kindergarten and first graders as the Heritage Academy School traveled to Cold Spring Orchard in Belchertown.
Apple picking was the perfect way for the kids to connect what they learned in the classroom with nature.
The children were able to follow the life cycle of the apple and celebrate the wonders of autumn. The kids picked their own apples and then explored the process of making and sampling fresh cider.
The trip included a visit the giant refrigerator that houses the picked apples and they got a chance to see the pickers’ special equipment and tools.
