Fenway’s Foul Weather Favors Pitchers for Start of Fall Classic

Those low scoring, tense pitchers duels we witnessed in the ALCS could continue as the World Series returns to Fenway Park Wednesday night!  A coastal storm will bring steady, soaking rainfall and chilly temperatures to Boston Wednesday afternoon and evening before ending.  Assuming the game is not postponed because the field is too wet and sloppy, the game will be played in rather miserable weather.

Right now it appears the soaking rain will taper off near or not long after game time (8 PM).  Some spotty light rain or mist may linger well into the evening though.  Temperatures will hover in the lower and middle 40s but it will feel even chillier because of stiff NW winds between 10-20 mph.  The conditions should favor the pitchers and make it hard on the batters and fielders.  So, at this point I’m thinking a possible rain delay (they hate to postpone post-season games) and then a very uncomfortable game for the players and fans to follow.  Go Sox!
