“Live Well Springfield” Initiative Kicks Off at Court Square

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Dozens of people gathered in downtown Springfield Thursday for the launch of “Live Well Springfield.”

It’s a program designed to make healthy living a little easier in the city.

The group brought in Brenda Santana to encourage other Springfield residents to get healthy.

Santana is a living example of what finding a fun way to improve your lifestyle can do. She recently took up rowing.

“I’ve never rowed before and to be out on the water is a privilege. It’s awesome…and running, I’ve never ran before, and to able to run a couple of miles in the morning, feels pretty good to me,” Santana explains.

“Live Well Springfield” is also doing things like putting a Farmer’s Market in Mason Square and creating new pedestrian and bike paths to make exercise more accessible.

WGGB encourages readers to share their thoughts and engage in healthy dialogue about the issues. Comments containing personal attacks, profanity, offensive language or advertising will be removed. Please use the report comment function for any posts you feel should be reviewed. Thank you.
