Deal Beween West Springfield Capt. Dan O’Brien and Town Falls Through

Captain O'Brien

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Just a week after a deal was made between West Springfield Police Captain Dan O’Brien and the town, that deal has fallen through.

O’Brien has been on paid administrative leave since 2011 over accusations of excessive force.

West Springfield Mayor Gregory Neffinger said last week that “everybody was happy” when a deal was struck between O’Brien and the town.

West Springfield Police Chief Ronald Campurciani had also commented that it was a “fair deal” for both parties.

That deal was supposed to be finalized within five business days, but Neffinger tells ABC40 Friday that after minor adjustments were made, the deal was called off.

Neffinger explains that he plans to take action on Monday and then notify O’Brien.

You are right Timothy, he deserves better prosecution by better DA’s who would press criminal charges.

You are right Liana. No wonder he is in no hurry to make a deal. Sounds like the chief will end all this Monday.
