Report: Dolphins’ Pouncey Subpoenaed in Hernandez Investigation
FOXBORO (WGGB) — The Dolphins’ 27-17 loss to the Patriots wasn’t the only bad news Miami offensive lineman Mike Pouncey received on Sunday.
According to a Sports Illustrated report, Pouncey was subpoenaed in connection with an investigation into former Patriot Aaron Hernandez.
State Police served the subpoena less than a half an hour after the game ended at Gillette Stadium.
Pouncey has been a close friend of Hernandez ever since the two were teammates at the University of Florida.
It does not mean that Pouncey is charged or will be charged with any crime, but it means that authorities will treat him as a necessary witness to the ongoing investigation into Hernandez.
The report did not implicate Pouncey’s involvement in any crime, but says the subpoena came in connection to suspicions that Hernandez was trafficking guns across state lines.
Hernandez is currently being held without bail, after being charged with the murder of former semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
