Police: Mass. Child Badly Hurt During School Recess

Ambulance
SPENCER, Mass. (AP) — Police in Spencer are continuing to investigate an incident involving two 7-year-old elementary school students that left one of the children hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Worcester Telegram reports that school officials sent a note home to parents last week detailing the incident, which occurred on Oct. 4 during a recess at Wire Village School.

The letter did not provide any details about what happened, but stated that an “active investigation” was continuing and that the safety of all students was of utmost concern to school officials on a daily basis.

Police said the injured child spent several days in the hospital and is now recovering.

Police Sgt. Michael Befford said it was unclear if the matter would be handled through the courts or another agency.

“Police Sgt. Michael Befford said it was unclear if the matter would be handled through the courts or another agency.”

Be serious? No matter what happened, these are 2nd graders here, not hardened 5th graders. Get a grip! The law need NOT get involved in 7 year old kids arguments, no matter how bad they turn out. I as a kid brought a real German Luger to Show and Tell in second grade. I had no idea it was real, or what I was doing was serious. Luckily they knew that, and no police were involved. If that happened today I would still be doing 50 years to life.
