Car Intentionally Set Ablaze in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD CAR FIRE

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — Fire investigators have determined that a car fire Wednesday morning was intentionally set.

Springfield Police and Fire crews responded to a car explosion and fire around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The car was parked near the corner of Worcester St. and Pinevale St. when the explosion caused it to become fully engulfed in flames.

Springfield Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant tells ABC40 that it has been determined that the fire was intentionally set inside a fenced area at a auto repair shop.

Conant adds that the department is still investigating the incident and are following possible leads.
