NH Town Wants Sox to Win, to Use Fireworks Measure

FREEDOM, N.H. (AP) — Residents in the small town of Freedom, N.H., want the Red Sox to win the World Series, partly to carry out a provision of their 3-year-old fireworks ordinance.

The ordinance, enacted in 2010, allows people in Freedom to light off fireworks on holidays like the Fourth of July and and New Year’s Eve.

WMWV-FM reports town moderator Don Johnson proposed — and got approval for — an amendment allowing fireworks to be used within “24 hours following the final out when the Red Sox win the World Series.”

Johnson said if the Sox win, he hopes to get back to Freedom from a business trip in time to light off some fireworks.

They seem to be doing exactly what they want to do, they aren’t bothering anyone, and nobody is bothering them. I call that freedom, not lack of. Don’t you Jake?

Why in the world was my post deleted? It was a reasonable response? I’ll try again. Jake: It seems to me they are doing what they please, hurting and bothering nobody, and nobody is hurting or bothering them. To me that is the very definition of freedom.
