White House: Initial Health Numbers Won’t Be High

Health-Gen
WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says enrollment numbers for the first months of new health care exchanges won’t be very high.

The Obama administration has refused to provide figures for how many people have signed up for insurance since the exchanges opened Oct. 1. But it plans to release numbers monthly starting in mid-November.

White House spokesman Jay Carney says the figures will show the first month was slow. He says that was expected, but numbers will be even lower because of widespread problems with the website.

Carney says in the first month, Americans are learning about their options and will decide which plans they want later in the six-month enrollment period.

The White House needs millions of Americans to enroll — especially young, healthy people — to keep prices low.

Exactly what I said earlier in another post. Nobody should be signing up this fast.
