SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we saw high temperatures in the 60s and today high temperatures were only in the low 40s in the Springfield area. A cold front has pushed through the region and behind that front a strong area of high pressure is building in from Canada. We saw a fair amount of sunshine but it did little to warm temperatures and once the sun goes down temperatures will fall off rather quickly as skies clear out. Winds tonight will not be as strong as they were this afternoon. A cold night is in store with low temperatures in the low 20s. The record low for tonight is 20 degrees and we will be close to that tonight.
The chilly air will stay with us for Monday and Election Day Tuesday as well as high temperatures remain below normal in the 40s. Temperatures will moderate as we move into the middle of the week and we even have a chance of making it back into the low 60s on Thursday but that will come with the chance of showers.
