Man Falls 30 Feet Down Embankment Near Soldiers’ Home

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — A volunteer at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke had to be rescued after falling down an embankment Monday morning.

Holyoke Fire says that around 10:00 a.m., they were called to the Soldiers’ Home after a man had fallen down a 30 foot embankment near the property.

Rescue crews went down and found the man unconscious, but alive, before loading him onto a backboard and taking him to an awaiting ambulance.

Fire officials adds that the man is a volunteer that performs some work around the Soldiers’ Home.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital. He current condition is not immediately known.
