UMass Men’s Basketball will take on the Boston College Eagles at 3:00 p.m. in the first game of their season, as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Boston Tip-Off.
The event will feature several Boston-area teams starting their seasons. Boston University will take on Northeastern to kick off the action at 12:30 p.m., followed by the Minutemen and Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Then, Harvard and Holy Cross with take the floor at the T.D. Garden at 5:30 p.m.
UMass is coming off of a strong 25-12 season, during which they lost only one game at the Mullins Center.
Last year, the Minutemen made it to the semifinals of the NIT, before losing to Stanford, 74-64.
They finished 6th in the Atlantic 10 standings last year with a 9-7 conference record, as they had to contend with strong squads such as St. Louis, VCU and Butler. All of whom will be returning to strength this season.
UMass will look to red-shirt senior Chaz Williams to lead them this season. Williams led the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game last season.
Boston College will have already gotten a game under their belt, as they start their season Friday night against the Providence Friars.
UMass will have their home opener on Tuesday, November 12 against LSU at 11:00 a.m.
