Woman in Critical Condition After Being Struck by Car on MA Pike

policeBLANFORD, Mass. (WGGB) – A woman remains in critical condition after being hit by a car on the Mass Pike Friday night.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m. going west bound on the Pike in Blanford. Police said a 31-year-old woman from Pittsfield was found in the breakdown lane. She was wearing dark clothing and was found leaning on the guardrail. She was allegedly hit by a car while she had exited her vehicle. Police say she may have been hitchhiking.

She was transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries but the extent of those injuries are unknown at this time.

Police are investigating the accident. Anyone with information is urged to call the Westfield State Police barracks at 413-572-3100.
