Veterans Day Events

Veteran American Flag SPRINGFIELD, Mass – Throughout Western Massachusetts residents and businesses are taking the time to thank the men and women who serve in our nation’s military. Events will be going on throughout the area Sunday and Monday.

If you’re looking for a way to remember our veterans you can check the list below for events in your area.

Sunday, November 10:

11:00 a.m. – Veterans Day Observance, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. After Sunday Mass with representatives from Parish Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, and members of American Legion Post 124.

1:00 p.m. – 2nd Annual Homeward Vets Spaghetti Dinner, WWII Club, 50 Conz Street, Northampton. Suggested donation of $10.00 for adults, $7.00 for kids 6-12, kids 5 and under eat free. Includes music, games, and 50/50 raffle. Runs to 4:00 p.m.

Sun. – Dancing with Our Heroes Gala, West Springfield Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Benefits the Friends of Fisher House Connecticut. The Gala will feature a silent auction, a sit-down dinner, general dancing and the “Dancing With Our Heroes” competition.   The dance competition will be between military heroes and their professional dance partners and winners will be chosen by celebrity judges and audience voting.

Monday, November 11, Veterans Day:

8:00 a.m. – USO Veterans Breakfast, Log Cabin in Holyoke. Runs until 10 a.m. and emceed by ABC40’s Dave Madsen.

8:00 a.m. – Veteran’s Day Breakfast, Westfield Boys and Girls Club, 28 West Silver Street. Runs until 10 a.m. Veterans and active military will receive a free breakfast. Hosted by teen members of the Keystone Club. Parade will follow.

8:30 a.m. – Wreath Laying Ceremony, New Ludlow Memorial on East Street in Ludlow. Ceremony to follow at 9 a.m. at the Exit 7 Theatre at 37 Chestnut Street.

8:30 a.m. – Doverbrook Memorial Service, Doverbrook Road in Chicopee. Mass, wreath laying and rededication of the bridge to follow. Events will conclude with a ceremony at the Knights of Columbus at 12 p.m.

10:45 a.m. – Agawam Veterans Day Ceremony, Veteran’s Green on Main Street in Agawam.

10:45 a.m. – Westfield Veteran’s Parade. Starts at Westfield Bank at the corner of Elm and Chapel Streets. Continues south on Elm to Broad Street and then on to Parker Memorial Park on West Silver Street.

11 a.m. – Texas-Size Thank You, Texas Roadhouse in the Allan & Cooley Plaza in Springfield. Veterans and active military can enjoy a free lunch until 2 p.m.

11 a.m. – Wilbraham Veteran’s Day Ceremony – Crane Park, Main Street.

11 a.m. – AIC “Honoring Our Heros,” AIC Campus Quadrangle. Ceremony will include a tribute to Francis Lamoureux, who stormed the beach at Normandy on D-Day, June 6th 1944.

11 a.m. – West Springfield Veteran’s Parade, Steps off at St. Thomas School.

11 a.m. – Springfield Veteran’s Day Parade, Steps off from Springfield Technical Community College, 1 Federals Street. Travels down State Street, turning onto Main Street and ending at Court Square at approximately 12 p.m.

All Day – Veteran Appreciation Haircuts, Great Clips locations. Those who go and get a haircut at Great Clips on Veteran’s day will receive a gift card for a free haircut to give to a veteran or active military member.

All Day – Chili’s Restaruant  ‘Give Back Event’ , Chili’s locations. Veterans and active military members are invited to enjoy a free entree.

All Day – On The Border® Thanks Veterans and Troops, On the Border locations. Veterans and active military members can enjoy a free “Create Your Own Combo” meal.

All Day – F.L. Roberts Veteran’s Services, F.L. Roberts and Golden Nozzle Car Wash locations. Veterans and active duty military are offered a free Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change, a free Golden Nozzle exterior car wash and $0.20 off per gallon of fuel.
