Bike Rack Sculptures Installed in Easthampton

BIKE RACKEASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — New sculptures in Easthampton are pulling double duty, serving as both pieces of art and bike racks.

It’s part of a project organized by Easthampton City Arts+.

The original sculptural bike racks, all located along the  streets of downtown Easthampton, were dedicated just this afternoon.

“I think they’re a great addition to our community. They’re a good place to put your bike. Our sidewalks are kind of tight so there’s not a lot of room to put them aside from a tree or against some shop windows so it’s a good thing to have across the street,” said Thomas Bacis of Easthampton.

The permanent sculptural bike racks were installed in close collaboration with the city’s Department of Public Works.
