Brothers Arrested for Weekend Murder in Springfield, Third Suspect Sought
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that 19-year-old Amadi Jose Sosa and his 16-year-old brother, both of Springfield, were arrested Thursday morning on Orange Street on warrants charging them with several counts including murder and armed robbery.
The name of the younger Sosa suspect is not being released at this time. He is facing the same charges as his older brother.
The charges stem from a shooting Sunday night. Police say that 34-year-old William Serrano was shot several times at a home at 105 Grenada Terrace, in what Delaney describes as “robbery and gang related” incident.
Serrano was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he later died.
Sosa, Delaney adds, has a long history with the Springfield Police Department.
A third suspect, 25-year-old Julio Leiva of Framingham, is still being sought. Delaney notes that he is also known as “Black” on the streets.
Leiva is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has seen Leiva or knows of his whereabouts, you are urged to call Springfield Police at (413) 787-6355 or ‘Text-A-Tip’ to CRIMES (274637) and in the message, type SOLVE and your tip.
The case remains active and ongoing.
