Wanted: John Perez

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Few things hurt more than a broken heart.

On July 14th, Springfield police say 29-year-old John Perez had his heart shattered after he came home to his Bristol Street apartment and discovered his girlfriend was being unfaithful.

“Due to a love triangle that was involved with his live-in girlfriend, he assaulted his girlfriend, went and got a 9mm and pistol-whipped his girlfriend into semi-consciousness,” says Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.

Neighbors heard his girlfriend’s screams and called police, but by the time officers arrived, Perez was already gone.

“Mr. Perez fled the house and got into his red pickup truck and before he drove off, he just fired three rounds into the air and he went parts unknown looking for the other person in this love triangle,” says Delaney.

While officers scoured the area, looking for Perez, his girlfriend was transported to Baystate Medical Center where her head wounds were treated. Police say she has since made a complete recovery.

“Mr. Perez was not located that night,” says Delaney. “An all-points was given for Perez and he hasn’t been found yet — he’s yet to be arrested in this case.”

Perez has no prior record with the Springfield Police Department.

If you see John Perez, call 911 or you can send police an anonymous tip. Just text it to “CRIMES” or 274637 and in the message type “SOLVE” and your tip.

Crimes of passion such as this one are expected. Not too many men would come home and find your GF in bed with another man, and NOT do something like this.

Although the gun part is a little over the edge, especially shooting in the air.

When my family moved here in 1950 from CT. Springfield was a great proud city. There was crime but mostly behind closed doors. Numbers, gambling etc. We had industry and there was no shortage of jobs. The problem was not many qualified job applicants. All the normally great places to get a job moved away. And the problems have gotten worse and worse.
In the late 60′s there was an influx of low/no income people to keep the population numbers up. Many Italians moved to Agawam. Polish moved to Chicopee . Get the picture now?
