AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Agawam Police Chief Robert Campbell is retiring.

The 62-year-old has been on the force for nearly 41 years. He has been Chief since 1994.

In a statement, Agawam Mayor Richard Cohen thanks Campbell for his years of “dedicated and devoted service to the Town and its residents.” He adds that “Chief Campbell’s commitment and enthusiasm will be greatly missed and has been appreciated through the many years.”

Campbell’s last day on the job will be January 3.

That’s got to be noteworthy. The average chief comes and goes pretty quickly. It says a lot he held the job for so long. I can’t imagine doing anything for 41 years LOL
