Holyoke Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting 5-Year-Old and His Father
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — A Holyoke man will serve time in prison after pleading guilty to a March shooting that injured a boy and his father.
22-year-old Brian Marrero of Holyoke pleaded guilty Monday in Hampden County Superior Court in Springfield to one count of assault and battery with dangerous weapon and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Prosecutors say that Marrero shot 26-year-old Reynaldo Diaz and his 5-year-old son in March, while they were standing near the intersection of Summer Street and Lyman Street in Holyoke.
Diaz and the boy both received non-life threatening injuries.
Following the plea, Marrero was sentenced to seven to ten years in prison.
