40 Force: South Hadley

40Force320-1

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — Simply put, the 40 Force is WGGB and our neighbors, working together to make a difference in Western Massachusetts.

It’s our commitment to support the community by pooling our resources with the collective knowledge and know-how of the Pioneer Valley.

We are launching 40 Force this holiday season by highlighting the best of cities and town across Western Mass, while helping the neediest members of our region.

Monday night, we shined the spotlight on South Hadley.

Our own Ed Carroll took a stroll through The Village Commons, and poked into Odyssey Bookshop.

Ed also spoke with Lynn Pasquerella, President of Mount Holyoke College, which is the oldest women’s college in the world and has been a part of the South Hadley community for the last 176 years.

We also caught up with Luke Brunelle to check on the rebuilding process of Brunelle’s Marina following a massive fire earlier this year.

Food and monetary donations were also accepted to help support Neighbors Helping Neighbors – South Hadley Food Pantry.

“We’d like people to realize that there are people in the town that are going out without their next meal. They’re very worried. We call that food insecurity. And not a lot of people know that. So it’s really important that it’s more known,” explains Cynthia St. George, Executive Director of Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

Join us Tuesday night as we head to Southwick. We will be broadcasting from Southwick Town Hall (454 College Highway) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Come on down, say hello, be on television, and join the 40 Force by supporting the Southwick Police K-9 Unit. (monetary donations will be accepted on-site).

We look forward to seeing you!
