Deer Runs Through South Hadley Store
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — It was a crazy day for a store called Crazy Moon in South Hadley after an unexpected visitor runs wild inside.
It wasn’t quite a bull in a china shop, but pretty close for the Crazy Moon Fashion Company.
Tuesday, around noon, a deer head-butted the front door of the clothing store at The Village Commons in South Hadley.
It knocked out the glass and ran inside.
With customers in disbelief, the animal – clearly disoriented – tore through the aisles and ended up in the owner’s office in the back of the store.
Thinking quickly, the owner, Joe Golio, shut the door to his office, trapping the deer inside.
The deer was not happy and proceeded do what a wild animals does best – act wild.
“My office is totally trashed ’cause he was in there for about 10 minutes…poor thing trying to get out, banging through the doors, and even the ceiling tiles. It looked like he tried to go out that way too,” Golio explains.
Golio called South Hadley Police and they opened a side door to the office that leads out back.
The upset deer bounded outside, crashing through the railing on the deck and then running across the courtyard. The deer even bounced off the window of a nearby restaurant, Food 101 Bistro, before making it back into the woods.
The condition of the deer is not immediately known.
The owner says most of the damage was contained to his office, while the store itself didn’t suffer much damage.
