Holyoke Man Arrested on Firearm and Drug Charges

Jose PomalesHOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) —  A man from Holyoke is facing a number of charges after police say they found a gun and over 100 bags of heroin in his possession.

33-year-old, Jose Pomales was arrested Monday at about 1:00 p.m. after law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at his apartment on Hampden Street in Holyoke.

In a press release sent to ABC40 Tuesday night, Lt. Jim Albert says that, “During the search a “High-Point” .45 cal semi-automatic handgun was recovered along with 9 rounds of .45 cal and 1 round 0f .357 cal ammunition; 114 bags of heroin, and U.S. Currency.”

Pomales faces charges including Poss. of a Firearm without License-FID, Poss. of Ammunition without FID card, Poss. to Distribute Class A (Heroin) and Poss. Class A (Heroin).

He was arraigned in Holyoke District Court today.  Lt. Albert reports this isn’t the first time Pomales has been in trouble with the law.  Back in early July Pomales was also arrested on firearm and narcotics charges.

The Holyoke Police Narcotics/Vice Unit, along with the Western Mass Gang Task Force (GTF), agents from Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and The Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) all took part in this investigation.

    Amazing how the judicial system keeps letting these pukes off. Makes folks think that some influential people don’t really want to win the war on drugs. This situation is disturbingly sickening.

    Victor, there are simply not enough cells to hold all the people you’d like to see locked up. We already incarcerate more citizens than any other country on earth. He has a drug problem, and for that there is treatment.
