Bright Nights Opens for 2013 Holiday Season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A western Mass. holiday tradition kicked off Wednesday night.

With a flip of a switch, the 19th season of Bright Nights opened for all to enjoy.

The three mile route through Forest Park will take you past about 650,000 lights, which takes about 60 days to set up.

Before you head through the park, be sure to tune into 98.5 FM on your radio for some holiday music to accompany your ride.

Depending on traffic, the entire route should take a minimum of 20 minutes, but on the popular nights, plan for at least and hour and a half.

Bright Nights is open now through January 5. Sunday through Thursday, the display is open from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and costs $18 per car.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the display is open from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m., and tickets for those nights are $21 per car.

Bright Nights will be closed on Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3.
