According to Springfield Police, Allison Dwarska was a passenger in a car carrying five teenagers. She was in the back seat when the car went over a curb and landed in a ditch just after 11p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Isabel Street.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
We spoke to neighbors in the area and they said these types of incidents happen all too often.
Springfield Police say speed was a factor in the accident, but are not releasing the driver’s name at this time.
“I’ve lived here since the late 1950′s and this curve has been an ongoing traffic hazard. Wintertime, summer, spring, or fall it doesn’t matter we’ve had our share of fatal accents here and I only hope we can find a way to improve our situation over here because it’s never ending,” says Springfield resident, Michael Stasiowski.
No word on whether any other passengers suffered injuries.
We will have more on this story as the information becomes available.
