Holyoke Lights Tree at City Hall

holyoke tree lightingHOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) –Now that Thanksgiving is over, ’tis the season for tree lighting.

Many area towns and cities followed suit. With a flick of the switch, Holyoke illuminated their tree in front of City Hall.
This ceremony meant a little bit more to one business owner, Maria Ferrer. She is usually seen cleaning up the streets around her hair salon and planning beautification projects. She was honored for her commitment to improving downtown Holyoke. “Like a month ago, I came with the idea to bring more holiday spirit to the town and I get together with a business downtown we get the wreaths and light bulbs.

As a business owner it’s giving back to the community what the community gives to us,” she said.

Folks also enjoyed musical performances, free rides on a horse-drawn carriage, and an appearance by Santa Claus.
