Small Businesses Learn to Grow in Springfield

BUSINESS GROWTH CENTERSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The process of bidding and securing contracts in public construction is difficult. It’s even tougher when you’re a small business owner.

This morning, the Business Growth Center in Springfield teamed up with Boston-based Next Street, which works to secure financing for small companies in urban markets. Together, the two organizations are offering a 5-day workshop, designed for minority-owned and female-owned businesses that make less than $2 million annually.

“Our goal is to help the businesses grow,” says Marla Michel, director of the Business Growth Center. “What does growth mean? Growth means helping the companies get more revenues, which usually translates into more jobs.”

The Business Growth Center will host four similar courses throughout the month. For more information on their programs, check out BusinessGrowthCenter.org.
