ABC40 Honor Roll- Students Give Back to Community

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Kids at the John Ashley Kingergarten School have been working hard to maintain a positive enviornment in their classroom and community.

The kids colllected spare change and canned goods before Thanksgiving break.  The money went to the schools “change for change” school-wide fundraiser. The change was used for special activities to build a sense of community within the school.

The activities included making bookmasters for adults as the Senior Center, cards for children at Shriner’s Hospital, dog treat bags for The Dakin Animal Shelter and friendship bracelets for a friend within the school.

The kids donated the canned goods to the parish cupboard and to a few other local food pantries. They collected four hundred thrity five  cans and boxes.
