NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — Firefighters were able to quickly knock down an afternoon fire at a Northampton business.

Northampton Deputy Fire Chief Chris Norris says that around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to Phillip Enterprises on Easthampton Road for a report of a fire.

When crews arrived on the scene, Norris adds that smoke and flames were coming from the roof of the metal clad building and people that had been inside when the fire broke out had evacuated to safety.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 30 minutes.

The fire, which remains under investigation, caused an estimated $150,000 in damage.

No injuries were reported.
