Springfield Welcomes Christmas Season with Tree Lighting

Holiday-Christmas3SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Some concerns over the weather this evening could mean a change in venue for Springfield’s Christmas festivities.

The Spirit of Springfield is hosting their annual holiday tree lighting ceremony tonight in the city’s Court Square, but threats of precipitation could force some of the entertainment inside.

If you’re planning on heading out to the event tonight, keep an eye on the weather. The Spirit of Springfield says that rain or other inclement weather will push some of the proceedings inside the First Church. The lighting itself, and Santa’s appearance, will still take place outside.

And if you do head down, make sure to look out for the 40 Force. We’ll be out in Springfield tonight starting at 5pm, all in support of the Friends of the Homeless.
