CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — A $400 million jackpot is up for grabs in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing.
It’s also Friday the 13th.
More specifically, the last Friday the 13th of 2013, which conventional wisdom tells us should make the day doubly unluckily — or maybe the unlucky numbers cancel each other out?
“It means nothing to me,” says Mike Potenza of Southampton, who adds that he doesn’t believe in superstition or luck. “I think it’s like divine intervention that I’m going to win this thing.”
“I play Dave Madsen’s birthday, Ray Hershel’s blood type and I also play 40 for my favorite station,” adds ABC40 anchor Tom Lewis, who grabs at few quick picks at the Trading Post in Chicopee.
The odds are a soul crushing 1 in 259 million, but do odds really matter on Friday the 13th?
“I have a very high maintenance wife,” says Potenza. She’ll spend that in about two weeks.”
Lewis, too has intentions of spreading the wealth.
“If I could get Dan Brown something with my winnings, that would be great,” says Lewis.
