Springfield Police Bust Drug Distribution Center

rosemarysantiago33SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Police busted a heroin and crack cocaine distribution center after a month long investigation Thursday afternoon.

Police say Rosemary “Rose” Santiago, 33, of 237 Tyler Street would meet potential buyers on the street near her apartment after setting up the deals over her cell phone.

Officers say they received many complaints from neighbors in the area, so they set up surveillance.

With the surveillance, ¬†were able to see Rosemary “Rose” Santiago, 33, of 237 Tyler Street involved in several transactions.

After securing a search warrant, officers raided Santiago’s apartment at 1:30 PM Thursday.

Detectives knocked and announced themselves at the back door, but Santiago did not answer and was heard fleeing from the front door.

There were other detectives at the front, who were able to catch Santiago, put her in handcuffs, and bring her back inside the apartment for a search.

Inside the apartment, officers found 40 bags of heroin, 41 .22 caliber rounds, $187.00 in cash, a stun gun, and drug weighing and packaging paraphernalia.

Santiago is being arraigned in Springfield District Court on Friday.
