It’s the show’s 35th year, making it one of the longest running performances of The Nutcracker in New England.
The 250 dancers range in age from five years old to their 60s.
There are some professionals, but any community member interested in dancing can participate.
“I always look back to when I was nine years old and in The Nutcracker, and what a special event that was for me, and I never looked at the Christmas season the same way again. We’re always trying to give that experience to these children that want to be involved,” said Tom Vacanti, Creative Director of the Pioneer Valley Ballet.
There will be two more performances of The Nutcracker, Sunday at 1:00pm and 4:30pm.
Then, the Pioneer Valley Ballet will start getting ready for their springtime production of Beauty and the Beast.
The auditions for that are January 4th at the P.V.B. studios.
