Patriots Roll Over Ravens in 41-7 Win, Hold Division Title

patriotsWEBBALTIMORE (WGGB) — The New England Patriots won the AFC East division title for the 5th year in a row Sunday, but it had nothing to do with their 41-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Thanks to the Buffalo Bills’ 19-0 shutout of the Miami Dolphins early Sunday, the Patriots clinched the division title before even taking the field.

It was a big weight off New England’s shoulders, as their match-up with the Ravens featured the last two AFC Champions.

The first half was all Patriots. LeGarrette Blount got the scoring started with a one-yard touchdown run. Then, Tom Brady connected with running back Shane Vereen for a 4-yard touchdown pass.

Stephen Gostowski added a 45-yard field goal to send the Patriots into the locker room with a 17-0 halftime lead.

It took Baltimore until the 4th quarter to get on the board, when a long drive ended with Joe Flacco’s one-yard score. But, the Patriots followed with several time-consuming drives to run out the clock.

Just for good measure, the Patriots tacked on three touchdowns in the final 2:10 of the fourth quarter. Chandler Jones recovered a fumble in the end zone for a score, then Tavon Wilson took an interception back 74 yards for the score.

The Patriots hope to secure a bye in the first round of the playoffs next week when they host the Buffalo Bills.
