The Hour reports that U.S. Attorney Vanessa Richards called Sentrell Bookhardt a “chronic recidivist.” She asked that he be sentenced to 71 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
The 27-year-old Bookhardt pleaded guilty in October to possession of an unregistered machine gun.
Bruce Koffsky, Bookhardt’s lawyer, requested a sentence of 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He cited Bookhardt’s lack of education and rough upbringing.
He said Bookhardt’s probation report shows he has scars from a knife fight, being thrown from a window and stabbing and gunshot wounds.
Bookhardt has three previous gun-related convictions.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 2.
